Transportation Options

ARRIVAL BY AIR

For the Main Event Only 

Fly into Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW)

The Airport is about 1 hour from camp. Please arrive by 2:00 pm on Thursday September 1, 2016 if you wish to take the Mosaic Shuttle leaving the airport at 3:06 pm. This will allow enough time to walk through the terminals and get your bags. 

If you attending the Pre-Trip

Transportation to the pre-trip hotel is not included in the pre-trip cost. As the event approaches we will provide additional details on transportation options from the airport for your convenience in planning.

TORONTO VAN(S)

Do you live in the Greater Toronto Area? Looking for an alternate way to get to the event besides driving yourself there? How about hopping in to the Mosaic Toronto Van!!! Two of our volunteers has agreed to drive 12 passenger vans to the event and take a few friendly Mosaic people with them. The price is less than the cost of driving by yourself or flying.  This will be a round trip service only, there is no one way. Vans will not pickup or drop off at the Toronto Airport.  You will see an option on the Merchandise page to reserve a spot an pay for it.

Van 1:

Van 1 will be leaving on early morning Thursday, September 1st and return to Toronto late evening Monday September 5th. You will be able to meet the van at a private home in the Bathurst / HWY 401 (Exit 366) area. Parking is available in the driveway for safe storage (Mosaic or volunteer is not responsible for any damage). The Yorkdale Subway Station is nearby and pickups can be arranged. Norm will contact you a week or so before the event to deal with logistics. Limit 7 people plus driver Cost $40 USD

Advance Crew Van 2:

Arrive night before to be a part of the volunteer advance crew to help the arrival to of everyone to camp. Van 2 will be leaving morning of Wednesday, August 31 and returning on late evening Monday September, 5th. The rental location is nearby the Dufferin / Hwy 401 (Exit 364) area. Once on site at the camp you will be part of select advance crew that spends their time putting signs up, setting up registration, putting up barriers and anything needed to make all you participants arrival as smooth as possible. Meals and lodging for Wednesday and Thursday are covered. Limit 2 people plus driver. Please contact us of you intent before signing up for this option so we can go over the details of what is involved by signing up for the Advance Crew Van. Cost $40 USD

MOSAIC SHUTTLE

If you want to take the Mosaic Shuttle from Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW) please plan on arriving by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st.. You must pick up your luggage and plan to meet the Mosaic Shuttle for a 3:06 p.m. sharp departure to camp. Cost: $40 USD

ARRIVING BY CAR

If you are driving to camp in your own car or a rented car, you will not need to pay for any shuttles. Check-in at camp opens at 4:00 p.m. Please be kind to the organizers and do not arrive beforehand (we will turn you away at the door if you do).  Keep in mind, there may be heavy traffic on Thursday afternoon.  If you arrive between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. go directly to the dining hall and leave your stuff in the car for later. You will be able to drive your car to your cabin to off-load your stuff if you arrive before dinner. Afterwards the camp will close the roads and you will be forced to park in the parking lots. Any car that is on camp grounds not in a parking lot after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday will be subject to being towed.

Ride Shares

Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America wants to make every effort to cut down the amount of automobile emissions traveling to and from the event. Four weeks, two weeks and one week before the event, we will e-mail a list of people who are looking for ride shares. We will list your name, e-mail, city/state of origin and amount of space available in the vehicle. Ride share arrangements are your responsibility.

By agreeing to participate in a ride share you hereby release Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America, any Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America affiliate or Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America representative or officer from any liability, claims and demands for personal injury, loss, theft, or damage to personal property, loss of income, consequential damages resulting from delays or absence of the driver or passenger. Any loss, liability, or injury shall be the personal responsibility and liability of the driver or rider and not of Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America, their affiliates, officers and agents.

DEPARTURES

The Mosaic shuttles will leave camp around 10:00 a.m. For the return trip from camp to airport on the shuttle please book your flights after 2pm for Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW).

DRIVING

Please let us know if you would you be willing to pick up people at the airports, bus or train station. Compensation is available.

Mosaic does reserve the right to make appropriate changes to this schedule and to assign people to buses and vans or personal cars based on efficient and reasonable capacity loading.
